“Sure Pioneer makes nice equipment, but its competition days are now behind it.”
A few years ago comments of this ilk began appearing amongst some more audacious sound off competitors and what they unknowingly did in posing such unsubstantiated statements was to start Pioneer off down a rabbit hole that would not only end in aural bliss but also engage in a process that most other car audio giants wish hadn’t occurred.
See, Pioneer doesn’t enjoy running second to anyone, therefore when its abilities were called into question it commenced development on a new range called the Reference Series. Starting out with the best component speakers and subwoofers it had ever developed, it was clear from the outset that Pioneer was arming itself to decimate the opposition. Then the amplifiers came and they were tough, powerful and ultra-clean. The PRS amplifiers made even dedicated amplifier manufactures take notice.
