National AV Solutions (NAVS) has released a range of active HDMI cables in lengths up to 50 metres, all of which are guaranteed to pass 18Gbps.
The cable is the Vega UHDV manufactured by Tributaries, a company founded and owned by Joe Perfito, who left his job as Vice President of Sales at McIntosh Laboratory Inc to establish the company. Tributaries Vega UHDV is an active hybrid HDMI cable in which optical fibre is used to carry the TMDS signals and copper cable is used for the DDC line.
Tributaries’ Vega UHDV active HDMI cable has been tested by Jeffrey Boccaccio’s DPL Labs and been given that company’s ‘18Gbps Seal of Approval’, so that it’s certified to support 18Gbps, 4K/60, Deep Colour, HDR, 4:4:4 WCG and Extended Audio Channels for all lengths up to 50 metres. The cable is available in lengths of 10, 15, 20, 30, 40 and 50 metres. The display end is terminated with a Type D HDMI connector but comes with a Type D-to-A adapter. Being active, a USB power supply is required (which is connected to the display end connector) and Tributaries supplies a switch-mode USB power supply with every cable.
