After releasing its full all-in-one New Uniti range, Naim is back to developing its separates selection with the announcement that the ND 555, a new 500 Series Network Player, will be “on show” at this weekend's show in Bristol, UK, although Naim’s ND Trevor Wilson says “at present we have no plans to demonstrate it. The team are still working very hard to prepare the product for our intended plans, but events are as they are, so the very least we can do is confirm the existence of the product at this time for all interested parties”.

The ND 555, the first 500 Series launch since the CD555 12 years ago, will be joined by the new NDX 2 and ND5 XS 2 network players.

Similarities to the design of Naim’s discontinued HDX hard drive player (below) have not gone unnoticed, but the new products are engineered on the basis of a completely new streaming system, three years in the making, says Naim. The 555 isthe reference player, and includes trickle-down technology from the Statement, including low-voltage differential signalling (LVDS) and a series of 13 discrete regulators to supply ultra-clean voltage to the audio stages

The DX 2 and ND 555 sue a full-colour 5-inch front-panel TFT display and are supplied with their own Zigbee (two-way) RF remote controls. The products aren't expected to launch for sale until at least end-March.
