Swedish studio flash manufacturer continues to capitalise on its TTL control technology, adding the feature to its latest-generation flash power pack. The new Profoto Pro-10 2400 AirTTL offers TTL auto exposure control along with HSS (High Speed Sync) and the world’s shortest flash duration of just 1/80,000 second (t0.5). This is made possible by offering an 11-stop power adjustment range on the 2400-joules unit which has two flash head outlets with fully asymmetric control. Consequently, the minimum output possible is just 2.4 joules. This also enables bursts of up to 50 flashes per second. Power adjustment is in 1/10-stop or full-stop increments and the flash recycling time can be as short as 0.02 seconds. In the pack’s Normal operation mode, the flash duration range is 1/12,000 to 1/800 second, and Profoto claims a flash-to-flash colour balance stability of just +/-50 degrees Kelvin.

A total of 11 different models of Profoto flash head – including the ProHead Plus, ProTwin and ProRing/ProRing 2 Plus – can be used with the Pro-10 which gives access to a system of over 120 light-shaping accessories.

Other features include large high-resolution LCD displays, variable-speed fan cooling, auto power dumping, photocell/IR slave, audible/visual signals and a USB port to enable firmware updates

Profoto has also announced the addition of a Sony compatible AirTTL wireless controller. The Air Remote TTL-S allows the new Sony A99 II D-SLR as well as the A7 II, A7S II and A7R II mirrorless cameras to be used with all Profoto’s TTL-equipped pro flash systems, giving automatic exposure control and high speed sync at up to 1/8000 second. The Air Remote TTL controllers have an operating range of up to 300 metres.
