Olympus Australia has announced two new PRO Prime Lenses, the M.Zuiko PRO series M.Zuiko Digital ED 17mm f/1.2 PRO (35mm equivalent: 34mm), a large-diameter, wide-angle prime, to be available from mid-January 2018 with an RRP from $1799, and the M.Zuiko Digital ED 45mm f/1.2 PRO (35mm equivalent: 90mm), a large-diameter, medium telephoto, to be available from mid- November 2017, also with an RRP from $1,799 AUD .
Both lenses conform to the Micro Four Thirds System standard and join the already available M.Zuiko Digital ED 25mm f/1.2 PRO (35mm equivalent: 50mm). The two new f/1.2 series lenses were developed with the similar design philosophies, aiming to deliver both outstanding resolution and beautiful feathered bokeh at maximum aperture of f/1.2 that blends the image from focused sections to out-of-focus sections and provides a smooth impression to the defocused background, providing more depth to the image by making the subject stand out further.
The shared characteristics thereby offer a series of lenses allowing for consistency of feathered bokeh across differing focal lengths. Location and physical size of focusing rings are similar across the range, allowing intuitive set-up of complex manual focusing mechanisms suited to videography when the manual focusing clutch is engaged, as well as for stills photographers.
Both feature fast and high-precision AF, as well as excellent mobility, with a compact, lightweight construction and dustproof, splashproof and freezeproof (-10°) performance. Both lenses also feature Z Coating Nano coating technology, which coats the lens surface with a layer of nanoscale size particles that have air in the centre, resulting in a similar refractive index as air and reduced surface reflection.
The m.ZUIKO PRO 17mm f1.2 will be available from mid- January 2018 RRP from $1,799 AUD / $2,099 NZD
The m.ZUIKO PRO 45mm f1.2 will be available from mid- November 2017 RRP from $1,799 AUD / $2,099 NZD.
