Kenwood has announced its 40th anniversary in Australia as a leading electronics manufacturer. To coincide with the important milestone, the company has released two new additions to its flagship ‘High Quality Reference’ (HQR) series of high-end products.

The complimentary products are a high quality 4-channel amplifier, the KAC-HQR1004 and matching 7-inch by 10-inch coaxial speakers, the KFC-HQR710EX.

The KAC-HQR1004 Class-D amplifier features 100 watts of RMS continuous power (1200 watts maximum power) to each of its four channels while the unit is cooled via a low noise fan in order to keep it under optimum operating temperature under most conditions. There are low- and high-pass filters and the solid power supply features custom-designed capacitors said to provide extended bass frequencies. High quality gold plated terminals have been provided with Kenwood stating the design will lower contact resistance resulting in wider frequency response, with improved dynamic range and signal-to-noise ratio.

The unit is extremely well-built and its chassis is finished in a quality brushed aluminium while its measurements are a manageable 324(W) x 187 (D) x 55 (H) with a profile that will allow many placement options within your car.

The ‘ultra-wide range’ KFC-HQR710EX 7x10-inch speakers feature a stream of new technologies making them worthy of the Reference title. The ‘Made in Japan’ titanium diaphragm horn-loaded tweeter is powered via a large neodymium magnet system which provides low distortion and high efficiency for what Kenwood calls a ‘life-like’ sound.

The main driver’s larger than usual cone area (118 percent wider than the standard 6x9 drivers) promises more powerful, dynamic and deeper low frequencies. Kenwood has designed the speakers to be flexible in terms of mounting options and are bundled with a bracket and an angled bracket but may also be installed flush (mounting depth is 88mm).

The KFC-HQR710EX speakers are rated at a healthy 155 watts at 4 ohms continuous with a peak power capacity of 700 watts. Kenwood specifies the frequency response as spanning from 63Hz to 23kHz.

The KAC-HQR1004 4-channel amplifier and KFC-HQR710EX 7x10 speakers are Kenwood’s top-line products in celebration of the company’s 40 years in manufacturing car audio products. The new products will be available at Kenwood dealers around the country with pricing for the amplifier being $399 and the speakers at $249.
