SVS has released its ‘Prime’ series of loudspeakers, suitable for two-channel or multi-channel applications. And the aptly-named ‘Bookshelf’ model in the series is exactly what it claims to be…

The SVS Prime Bookshelf is a two-way, bass reflex design with a 25mm dome tweeter and a 165mm bass/midrange driver. The 165mm mid/bass driver cone is made from polypropylene and operates from an ABS/fibreglass composite basket. Its voice coil is vented and the former has an aluminium shorting ring. It’s crossed (at 2.3kHz) to a 25mm aluminium domed tweeter fitted with an FEA-optimised diffuser. The port is rear-firing. SVS specifies the frequency response of the Bookshelf at 48Hz–25kHz ±3dB, and the sensitivity at 87dBSPL. The nominal impedance is rated as being 8Ω. ‘Designed for two-channel purists and home theatre fans alike, there simply isn’t a finer bookshelf monitor available in this segment,’ said Ed Mullen, of SVS. ‘Borrowing heavily from the Ultra line, the Prime Bookshelf is packed with high-end technology and premium quality drivers, setting a new high-water mark for sound quality and performance value at this price point.’ Available now, you can order speakers in either a Black Ash or Piano Gloss Black finish.
