Q Acoustics has released a new compact standmount speaker, the 3030i, which slots in between the company’s smaller 3020i bookshelf model and its larger 3050i floorstander. [Click on image for larger version]
The Q Acoustics 3030i pairs a 165mm diameter bass/midrange driver with a 22mm dome tweeter in a bass reflex cabinet with an effective volume of 12.5 litres. This volume represents a 50 per cent increase over the 3020i which, combined with its newly-designed, larger bass/midrange driver with copper-clad aluminium voice coil wire, enables bass down to a claimed 46Hz (–3dB).
The tweeter in the new 3030i is identical to the one used in the larger, more expensive 3050i and also mounted the same manner, by which the tweeter is isolated from any cabinet vibrations. ‘Q Acoustics is on the move with new models,’ said Paul Riachi, of Indi Imports, which distributes Q Acoustics in Australia. ‘In recent months we launched the QB12 and now this new addition to the Q Acoustics family. Established in 2006, Q Acoustics has the world’s most talented team of loudspeaker engineers with access to the most advanced technical facilities, which is allowing it to develop loudspeakers that are, without question, demonstrably superior.’
Available in three finishes—Carbon Black, English Walnut and Arctic White—the Q Acoustics 3030i speakers will be available in Australia in March, at which time Indi Imports anticipates they will go on sale for $899 per pair (RRP).
