Australian Hi-Fi Magazine, which celebrated its 50th anniversary earlier this year, has been acquired by Future Publishing Australia, in a deal that includes other audio and video titles formerly published by nextmedia pty ltd, including Sound+Image, Best Buys Audio & AV, and Audio Esoterica Magazine.

All these titles - including print magazines and digital editions - will join Future Publishing’s existing portfolio of consumer technology and gaming titles, which includes leading Australian print and online magazines APC, TechLife, TechRadar and PC Gamer. Neville Daniels, Managing Director of Future Publishing Australia [pictured left], says: ‘Working with these trusted local publications alongside our existing global digital platforms will allow us to provide a rich experience for our growing Australian audience across multiple channels and mediums - and similarly, to further support our commercial partners. This fits perfectly with our objective to produce high quality content that connects. We are thrilled that the complete editorial team - including world-class Australian editors Greg Borrowman, Jez Ford and Paul Burrows, all respected experts in their fields - are joining the Future Australia team. This acquisition further consolidates our position as Australia’s leading multi-platform consumer technology and AV publisher.’

This is a fantastic opportunity for Australian Hi-Fi Magazine,’ said Greg Borrowman. ‘Future is a progressive, cutting-edge publisher that has already demonstrated its commitment to supporting specialist magazines, and now that we have access to greater resources and support, Australian Hi-Fi Magazine’s Australian-based editorial team will be able to lift the quality of Australian Hi-Fi Magazine’s content to even-higher levels, with more equipment reviews, more feature stories, and more music content, written by Australians specifically for Australian audiophiles and music-lovers.

Future Publishing Australia is the Australian division of UK-based publisher Future plc, which publishes more than 75 publications and more than 568 bookazines per year, totalling a global circulation of 1.5 million. The Future portfolio spans audio, hi-fi, video, technology, games and entertainment, music, creative and photography, hobbies, home interest and B2B.
