Arcam, which although established in England and still based in that country, has been owned by Canadian company JAM Industries for the past five years, has just been purchased by Harman International, itself owned by Samsung.

The announcement was contained in an email to Arcam customers. According to the email there will be no changes in the Arcam management team, with Charlie Brennan [pictured above] continuing on as Managing Director, and Scott Campbell continuing as director of sales and marketing. The current management team is being maintained and will continue to be based in Cambridge.

This means Harman International is now responsible for the manufacture and distribution of the AKG, AMX. Arcam, BSS, Crown, dBx, harman/kardon, Infinity, JBL, Mark Levinson, Martin, Lexicon, Revel, Soundcraft and Studer brands. The Australian distribution of these brands is split between several local distributors, despite Harman establishing its own wholly-owned Australian distributor, Harman Australia, earlier this year to distribute harman/kardon-branded products. Arcam is currently distributed in Australia by Advance Audio Australia Pty Ltd.
