Cambridge Audio has updated and expanded its Bluetooth speaker range with the Go, Go Radio, and Bluetone 100
Cambridge Audio’s Bluetooth range now features a new and improved version of the company’s original multi-award winning Minx Go portable speaker, a new Go Radio model with built-in FM tuner and a larger home-orientated model, the Bluetone100. ‘Wherever your music is stored or played from—including the most popular streaming services such as Spotify or Google Play Music—you can now enjoy it wirelessly. Listening to your favourite music or radio station at home or on the go has never been easier,’ said Philip Sawyer, of Synergy AV, which distributes Cambridge Audio in Australia.
The new Go ($229) has NFC (Near Field Communication) technology to enable simple, one-touch Bluetooth pairing, along with support for aptX and is claimed to deliver 18 hours of playback from a single battery charge. You can also use its battery to charge the batteries on portable devices including phones and tablets. Measuring 237mm (W) x 123mm x (H) x 60mm (D) the Go uses a high-efficiency, DSP driven Class-D amplifier to drive a speaker system comprised of twin bass/midrange drivers and twin tweeters. A rear-firing ABR (Auxiliary Bass Radiator) assists in delivering deep bass. The UK’s What Hi-Fi magazine awarded the Cambridge Audio Minx Go a prize as ‘Best Wireless Speaker Under £200’. The Cambridge Audio Minx Go Radio has all the same features as the Go, but adds an FM radio tuner with three presets.
Cambridge Audio’s Bluetone 100 wireless speaker is also aptX Bluetooth capable and uses a DSP-driven Class-D amplifier rated at 100-watts to drive balanced mode radiator (BMR) drivers. ‘Not only does it deliver impressive room filling sound, the Bluetone 100 is a great looking system and has been specially constructed, with a one-piece casework, designed to give class-leading elimination of rattles and vibrations; to preserve outright quality for years to come,’ said Sawyer. ‘Cambridge chose to develop its own BMR drivers for the Bluetone due to their combination of offering both a larger driver with a slimmer profile while offering superior performance to conventional drivers.’ The Bluetone retails for $399.
