Convoy International is now the official Australian distributor for Cary Audio and will soon be releasing the MQA-certified version of Cary’s DMS-500 network audio player.
Although full production has yet to commence, a ‘proof of concept’ DMS-500 with MQA was demonstrated at the recently-concluded Rocky Mountain Audio Fest. ‘It’s especially exciting that the Cary Audio DMS-500 is MQA’s first partner product to use MQA 16× rendering,’ said Daryl Berk of Cary Audio. ‘This means all MQA files are decoded within the DMS-500 to an astonishing 705.6kHz (44.1×16) or 768 kHz (48×16) resolution. With the DMS-500 and MQA’s 16× rendering, MQA files will take you back to the original master recording and capture the missing timing detail. The result is amazing. Every nuance and subtlety of the artist’s performance, every tiny drop of emotion is authentically reproduced. When you listen, you’ll be transported right into the very moment of creation.’
The DMS-500 streams native PCM up to 32 bit 384 kHz, and DSD 64, 128, 256, 512 and once connected to your wired or wireless home network, streams any file from any Mac or PC computer, NAS drive, or Internet music service, plus you can directly connect USB hard drives, thumb drives, or SD Cards for ‘computer-less’ playback of digital music. ‘Whether network or computer-less, the DMS-500 will transform your digital files effortlessly into beautiful, rich analogue music at the level you’ve come to expect from Cary Audio’s long history of renowned digital products,’ said Geoff Matthews, of Convoy, ‘and the 13cm full-colour high-def front panel display is very easy on the eyes, displaying the most intricate artwork in gorgeous detail along with all pertinent track information.’
