NAD has updated its BluOS operating system so that NAD’s C 658 BluOS Streaming DAC, M10 BluOS Streaming Amplifier, and BluOS 2i MDC Compatible units can now be streamed music from iDevices via Apple AirPlay 2. It has also released a BluOS 2i MDC module that installs into C368 and C388 integrated amplifiers to enable multiroom streaming and AirPlay 2 functionality. Owners of all compatible NAD models should already have received advice to upgrade to BluOS version 3.4.20. Updated devices can use AirPlay 2 to stream music services, podcasts, audiobooks, movies, games, YouTube audio, TV sound and stored music from their iPhone, iPad, or Mac, as well as the ability to control playback using Siri voice control.
‘We are proud to be able to offer Apple AirPlay 2 compatibility to our NAD users,’ says Cas Oostvogel, Product Manager for NAD Electronics. ‘And we are especially proud to be able to do so with the BluOS 2i MDC module, since AirPlay 2 technology has never before been implemented in a modular solution like this, where owners of older NAD units like the C 368 and C 388 Integrated Amplifiers, which were first launched in 2016, can receive a new technology many years after their original purchase.’
Steve Burton, General Manager of Convoy International, which distributes NAD in Australia, was equally enthusiastic about the added capabilities. He told Australian Hi-Fi Magazine: ‘With AirPlay 2, the NAD C 658, C 368, C 388, and Masters M 10 become ideal solutions for Apple users looking for premium sound quality and seamless multi-room convenience.’
