Blue Microphones has released a pair of headphones called Lola. That’s L-O-L-A Lola, lo lo lo lo Lola, just like Ray Davies sang it with The Kinks.
Blue’ Lola is a sealed over-ear cushion design that uses 50mm diameter drivers that are backed by larger than normal ear-cup cavities. According to Blue, maximising the volume of air behind the drivers results in full-range sound with a tight and powerful low end, articulate and warm mids, and an accurate extended high frequency response.
‘With Lola, we are excited to bring a new level of sound quality to the headphone market,’ said Bill Barsby, of Innovative Music which distributes, Blue headphones in Australia. ‘Popular mass-marketed headphones don’t live up to their hype, robbing listeners of the emotional impact that can come from listening to their favourite music. For those who won’t settle for the overhyped, Blue’s Lola will let listeners to rediscover their favourite music.’
The Blue Lola has an unusual multi-jointed headband and ear-cups that are shaped like ears. Blue says this design provides total comfort and adjustability for a variety of head shapes and sizes and enable. The design also means that the ear-cups stay parallel at all times, which Blue claims creates the best seal on the head, which in turn ensures solid bass response, improved isolation, and reduction in sound bleed. ‘The result is a supremely precise, highly customisable fit that allows for superior comfort and greater performance,’ Barsby told Australian Hi-Fi Magazine.
Lola comes with a soft travel case and two high quality audio cables, one of which is a three-metre audio cable for home use and the other a 1.2-metre cable with a built-in mic and Apple iPhone/iPad controls for portable use.
Available now in either Charcoal Black or Pearl White, the Blue Lola headphones sell for $449.95 (RRP).
