Audio-Technica has released a new wireless in-earphone with a new eartip design and a new 10mm driver with a dual-layer diaphragm. ‘The new diaphragm in the ATH-CKS5TW employs a specific combination of hard and soft materials to deliver clear, full-range audio with rich, accurate bass from any music source,’ said Maxwell Twartz of Technical Audio Group (TAG), which distributes Audio-Technica in Australia.

The ATH-CKS5TW features a new auto power On/Off feature that automatically turns the earphones on and connects to a paired smartphone, portable digital audio player or other compatible device when they’re removed from their case. They then turn off automatically when placed back in their case. They also feature Qualcomm’s ‘Clear Voice Capture’ circuitry to improve clarity during phone conversations as well as Bluetooth 5.0 wireless technology.

The ATH-CKS5TW [pictured above, click on image to enlarge] is compatible with aptX, SBC and AAC codecs and is claimed to give 15 hours of continuous playback when fully charged, and the included charging case means you can add an additional 30 hours without having to be anywhere near mains power.

Buttons located on each earbud allow you to control of music, phone calls and volume without having to operate these functions from a smartphone, but the ATH-CKS5TW is compatible with Audio-Technica’s ‘Connect’ app, which allows users to check battery life, adjust settings, control playback and locate the earbuds if they’re misplaced.

The Audio-Technica ATH-CKS5TW in-ears are available in black, blue and khaki colours and come with a USB-C charging cable and interchangeable 3D ear-loops that can be used to provide a more secure fit if required. ‘The exclusive new eartip style offers an improved, stable and comfortable fit and provides superior noise isolation from ambient sounds,’ said Twartz. ‘The new design also facilitates superior high-frequency performance.’
