JUDGES' CITATION: Whether working in a studio or on location, photographers can benefit from lighting solutions that are flexible and fast while also offering a wide range of lighting options in a highly portable package. The ELB 500 TTL has a feature set which includes TTL auto or manual output control, high-speed sync up to 1/8000 second and compatibility with Skyport remotes via the Elinchrom Transmitter PRO. The compact pack can be powered from the mains (dubbed ‘Active Charging’) or via a battery pack when used in remote locations. Numerous studio lighting options are available when used with two asymmetrical controllable heads with optional flash durations for action (1/20,000 second) and normal (1/3400 second), and rapid recycling times.

Australian Camera magazine is Australia’s only member of the Technical Image Press Association. TIPA started in Europe back in 1991, and has been gradually expanding further afield so there are now members in the USA, Canada, India, China, Brazil and, of course, Australia. Australian Camera magazine was invited to join in 2010, so this year marks our eighth attendance at the awards judging.

These judges’citations have been sub-edited to conform with our house style for elements such as measurements  and numbers. In some cases, they’ve also been slightly amended to better suit the Australian market situation or enhance readability. Sensor pixel counts are the effective number rather than that the total (which is what we usually quote in this magazine).
