Officially opened on 18 October, the Ted’s World Of Imaging store occupies 800 square metres of floor space and combines a contemporarily styled retail area with an exhibition gallery, workshop and events space (which will be available for hire), a photography studio (also available for hire), professional printing services and an education centre.

Ted’s believes its new store will set a benchmark as the complete photographic experience centre for anyone with a passion or interest in photography. Ted’s Cameras CEO, Nic Peasley, says, “After almost 50 years, Ted’s is staying young by rejuvenating its operations and changing what it means to be a photographic retailer.

“This is the biggest investment ever made in one store by an Australian photo retailer. We’re going to deliver an entirely new way of experiencing photography, where anyone interested in the image in all its forms can visit us and be inspired to learn and create.”

The retail area comprises sections devoted to individual camera brands with sufficient space to showcase a fuller range of products, including accessories. The participating brands include Canon, DJI, Fujifilm, Lowepro, Manfrotto, Nikon, Olympus, Panasonic, Sigma, Sony and Tamron, each enabling customers to see and experience the full extent of their camera and lens systems, assisted by brand specialists. The bright and spacious retail area of Ted’s World Of Imaging also includes areas devoted to camera bags and packs, tripods and camera supports, data storage products, camera drones and binoculars.

The concept behind the new store is to provide an appealing and accessible location where customers wander, touch, talk, try, experience and explore – much more than is currently possible in any typical camera store. The emphasis is on providing a more engaging and immersive experience than can be found when shopping online, including access to experts who can help customers make more informed choices about their equipment purchases. With the education and events components of the centre, Ted’s says the objective is to provide on-going support and assistance with their customers’ “life-long relationship with photography”.

“What makes this venture exciting is the fact that, in over 48 years, Ted’s has always been at the forefront, standing the test of time in providing its customers with added-value experiences both in-store and online.”

Ted’s World Of Imaging is located at 317 Pitt Street, Sydney.
