Sigma is giving the L-Mount Alliance a further boost by announcing 11 of its much-awarded Art series lenses will become available in the L-Mount over the rest of this year. Also coming is the MC-21 mount adapter which will allow the fitting of selected Sigma lenses – in either the Sigma SA or Canon EF mounts – to L-Mount camera bodies, and these include Art, Contemporary and Sports series primes and zooms.

The Sigma L-Mount lenses fully utilise the functions of the L-Mount so so support continuous autofocusing, in-body image stabilisation (optimising correction to the focal length), and in-camera lens corrections (for peripheral illumination, chromatic aberrations and distortion). As on all the Art lenses, the mount itself is machined from a solid billet of brass for added precision, durability and stability. The mount location is sealed to prevent the intrusion of dust or moisture.

Sigma says it will additionally be offering the L-Mount in its Mount Conversion Service which, for a fee, enables owners to change the mounts on favourite – or recently purchased – lenses so they can continued to be used despite changing camera systems.

Exact launch dates and local pricing for Sigma’s L-Mount Art lenses have yet to be announced, but the 11 models scheduled for launch comprise the 14mm f1.8 DG HSM, 20mm f1.4 DG HSM, 24mm f1.4 DG HSM, 28mm f1.4 DG HSM, 35mm f1.4 DG HSM, 40mm f1.4 DG HSM, 50mm f1.4 DG HSM, 70mm f2.8 DG Macro, 85mm f1.4 DG HSM, 105mm f1.4 DFG HSM and 135mm f1.8 DG HSM.
