It's a Christmas (well, close enough) miracle: Jack White is making his painfully long-awaited return to Australia, and for the first time ever, he's bringing jammy, jovial blues-rock supergroup The Raconteurs (locally dubbed The Saboteurs for legal reasons) with him!
The Michigan-native foursome – comprised of White (best known for his work in The White Stripes and The Dead Weather), Brendan Benson (solo), Jack Lawrence (The Greenhornes, Blanche and The Dead Weather) and Patrick Keeler (The Greenhornes) – will make their AU debut at the 2019 Bluesfest music and arts festival, where they'll be chumming it up with rock and blues legends like Jack Johnson, Paul Kelly, Ben Harper, Gary Clark Jr, Iggy Pop... The list goes on. And on. And on.
As for what fans can expect from The Saboteurs' setlist, the band are currently gearing up to release their third studio album – the first since emerging from a viciously massive hibernation, following 2008's Consolers Of The Lonely – so don't hold your breath, but there's a slight (slight) chance there may be some unheard gems on the horizon.
Yesterday, the band released their first two singles from the currently untitled LP, "Sunday Driver" and "Now That You're Gone". A release date for the album is yet to be announced, but rest assured, Australian Guitar will be all over it once we hear the magic words.
