The death of Prince is something that we’ve still not quite come to terms with here at the Australian Guitar headquarters. His influence on both fans and artists seems to be so much wider than your average rock/pop star and the news of his passing at age 57 last Friday 21 April at Paisley Park has sent the music community as a whole reeling.
Many famous artists have offered tributes both verbal and musical and the great Bruce Springsteen decided to open his show in Brooklyn last Saturday with a stirring rendition of Prince’s 1984 classic hit “Purple Rain”.
The reaction from the crowd and later on the online audience has been huge and a version of The Boss and his E Street band’s cover is now available to download for free here.
Check video of his performance below, lights dimmed to purple, of course.
