It was April 29th, 2006 – a rather chilly Saturday, if we're remembering correctly – that iconic prog-metallers Tool released their most recent LP – the ambitious, jammy and slow-burning 10,000 Days. Ever since, it's seemed like there was more to that title than initially met the eye; for all intents and purposes, it was a sign of how long we'd be waiting for its follow-up to hit shelves.
Alas, 2019 looks to be the year our prayers are finally answered – vocalist Maynard James Keenan has taken to Twitter to announce that vocals for LP5 were recorded "MONTHS ago", alongside all tracking for the instrumentals, with all but the mixing and mastering processes left to go.
The band have a long string of tour dates throughout the US and Europe kicking off in May, so expect to see the first single drop somewhere between now and then. In the meantime, we'll keep replaying the ominous three-minute teaser they dropped last year, when they were plugging their masterclass clinics.
