Klipsch has delivered something quite radical here — a speaker package which requires no external amplification and no cables. It uses WiSA technology to send up to 7.1-channel signals wirelessly (uncompressed high-resolution) from the neat Control Centre into which your sources plug (4 x HDMI, 1 optical, 1 coaxial, one analogue and Bluetooth).

The speakers themselves use titanium-dome tweeters in Klipsch’s Tratrix horn module along with varying numbers of 115mm ‘cerametallic’ mid/bass drivers, and that internal amplification — 125W each for the front three speakers, 50W each for the rears. We reviewed the 5.1-channel system with two 250W 12-inch subwoofers, and found the wireless system to be flawless and low latency (the WiSA standard is 5ms), while the speaker system sounded superb, delivering truly brilliant impact and frankly astonishing surround imaging — with multichannel music as well as movie soundtracks.

For such a tech success, neatly simplifying surround sound, we had no hesitation in ringing the award gong for this superb $10,999 package.
