Olympus has become a Platinum Sponsor of the 2017 Australian Professional Photography Awards (APPA) and Australian Professional Video (APVA) Awards.

Olympus Australia has partnered with Australian Institute of Professional Photographers and is now the Platinum Sponsor for this year’s Australian Professional Photography Awards (APPA) and the Australian Professional Video Awards (APVA).

The Australian Photography Awards (APPA) is an annual event that has been running for more than 40 years and is the largest ‘print-only’ professional photography award in the country. ‘This partnership is a co-operation which will see both the AIPP and Olympus Australia combining their shared ethos in a long-term commitment to promoting the art of photography and all of the experiences surrounding it,’ said Peter Myers, Executive Officer of the AIPP. ‘We’re excited to be working with Olympus, which shares our philosophy of working together for the benefit of the professional image-making community in Australia.’

Kristie Galea, Marketing Manager of Olympus Australia, told ProPhoto Magazine: ‘Olympus is thrilled to be involved in the Australian professional imaging community and excited to be able to engage the community with our micro Four Thirds camera system.’

Founded in 1963, the Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP) is Australia’s largest photographic membership body. This not-for-profit organisation is run voluntarily for and by professional photographers and industry representatives and maintains rigorous entry criteria and a binding Code of Ethics for members, as well as providing ongoing education via seminars, workshops and events, concerning copyright; taxation, legal and business matters; insurance; digital imaging and work practices.

The Australian Professional Photography Awards are the largest awards for professional print photography in Australia and also the only awards that require physical prints to be submitted for judging. APPA is open to all professional photographers with entries judged in categories that include commercial, illustrative, portrait, wedding, landscape and travel photography.
