Soundcast President and CEO Oscar Ciornei (pictured above at left, with Peter Shilkin, Sales and Business Development at Soundcast) thinks the new VG10 is such an important model for his company that he travelled all the way from the USA to Australia to launch it… and several other new models in the Soundcast range.
‘The new Soundcast VG10 is the first model in the industry to incorporate Bluetooth AAC and aptX codecs, Apple Airplay and Play-Fi,’, he said at the launch in the open-air section of the Small Bar, in Crow’s Nest, NSW. ‘It’s truly portable, with a battery that will deliver up to ten hours of playtime, totally weather resistant, so it can be left outdoors 24/7, works with Siri and Alexa, and you can pair two VG10s to get true wireless stereo, thanks to Qualcomm’s TWS circuitry.’ The VG10 partners a 153mm down-firing woofer driven by a 60-watt Class-D amplifier with two 75mm full-range drivers driven by a 10-watt Class-D amplifier. When it becomes available in Australia in early May, it will retail for $1,199 (RRP), slightly less than the current top-line model in the Soundcast range, the VG7, which is the largest in the company’s range of indoor/outdoor self-powered loudspeakers.
The Soundcast VG7 partners a down-firing 178mm bass driver with four 75mm full range speakers, all with aluminium cones and butyl rubber roll surrounds. The bass driver is driven by a DSP-controlled Class-D amplifier, and the four 75mm drivers by two DSP-controlled 15-watt Class-D amplifiers. The VG7 adds a near-field pairing capability to the on-board Bluetooth 4.2 technology and also comes with Qualcomm’s TWS (True Wireless Stereo) technology, so two VG7s can be paired to deliver stereo sound. The larger chassis of the VG7 enables a larger battery to be fitted, which give up to 15-hours of playtime and means that you can also use the VG7’s battery capacity to recharge a phone or portable audio device via USB.
‘Soundcast speakers are like no other portable speakers,’ said Ciornei, ‘because we always put sound quality first and foremost when designing them, and it’s only after we get this right that we make sure the speakers can play loud, deliver depth of sound-field, have exceptional battery life and are totally water-resistant and dust-resistant. They also look great, so when you’re not using them outdoors, they will also look great wherever you’re using them inside in your home.’ For details of all the Soundcast models already available in Australia, and information about upcoming models, contact the Australian distributor, Advance Audio.
