Famous New Zealand hi-fi manufacturer Perreaux has released a highly flexible, fully customisable phono preamplifier that accommodates both moving-magnet and moving-coil cartridges simultaneously and allows you to alter gain settings, equalisation curves, load resistance, load capacitance, as well as select between mono and stereo operation.
The Perreaux Audiant VP3 has separate direct connections and DIP switches for each channel to ensure minimal noise and maximum channel separation, and the added ability to connect two cartridges simultaneously means you can conveniently select between the two from the front panel. There are four different gain settings, as well as the ability to switch between ‘Standard’ and ‘IEC’ RIAA equalisation curves. ‘Whether as part of a complete system of Audiant products or as the vinyl preamplifier in your existing system, Perreaux’s VP3 will reconnect you with your music,’ said Tim Sleath, of Audio Marketing, which distributes Perreaux in Australia. ‘Entirely built in New Zealand, the VP3 uses only the finest components, including an internal power supply that features a custom-designed, fully shielded toroidal transformer with shunt voltage regulation and filtering to ensure the highest levels of transparency, detail and dynamics.’ Sleath told Australian Hi-Fi Magazine that Audio Marketing will be showcasing the Perreaux Audiant range at the upcoming New-Tech show in Sydney. ‘In addition to this new VP3 phono stage being on show, we will also have the Audiant 80i Anniversary integrated amplifier, and the DP32 DAC/Pre and 100p power amplifier,’ he said. Perreaux says the RIAA accuracy of the VP3 is within 0.5dB from 50Hz to 20kHz, THD is less than 0.05% across the entire audio range, with the signal-to-noise ratio better than 87dB. The VP3 measures431×277×67mm (WDH) and weighs 7.5kg. Available now, the Perreaux Audient VP3 retails for $2,495.
