Nagra’s HD AMP has won a Grand Prix award from Japanese high-end audio magazine Stereo Sound.
Nagra’s HD AMP mono power amplifiers were reportedly the result of a five-year research and development project at Nagra. ‘The HD AMP redefines what ultimate amplification should be,’ says Nigel Ng, of Advance Audio, which distributes Nagra in Australia. ‘This prestigious piece of electronics brings the transparency, accuracy and musicality associated with the Nagra brand to more powerful amplifiers for filling large rooms and driving demanding speakers.’
The Nagra HD AMP has a massive linear power supply built around a 1600VA transformer, a dual Pi filter with 2,640,000µF of storage delivered by custom-made Mundorf capacitors. The output stage uses matched MOSFETs and is rated at 250-watts into 8Ω, 500-watts into 4Ω and 1,000-watts into 2Ω.
