Harbeth’s M40.2 speakers have been awarded Stand-Mount Loudspeaker of the Year, 2016, by The Absolute Sound.
In its report on the winning products, The Absolute Sound wrote of the Harbeth M40.2 that it was: ‘Alan Shaw’s masterpiece, both a triumphant vindication of the venerated BBC school of research and design and an astounding advance upon that school, one of the rare speaker systems for which the term “monitor” is not in the least pretentious: a virtual embodiment of tonal neutrality and vanishingly low coloration.’ One of the judges said ‘the 40.2 takes any kind of music in stride and reproduces it as accurately, faithfully, and beautifully as possible, with an all but unprecedented truthfulness to the timbre of real voices and instruments. It will play louder and cleaner than one can stand in any room it’s likely to be used in, yet, what is more important, exhibits less tonal dropout at whisper levels than any dynamic speaker.’
The Harbeth M40.2 shared its award with three other loudspeakers, all of which are labelled by Absolute Sound as being ‘Stand-mount Loudspeaker of the Year 2016.' Those models were the Revel Concerta 2 M16, The Joseph Audio Prism, and the Focal Sopra No 1.
