After smashing skulls (figuratively) and stage lights (literally) at Splendour In The Grass 2016, post-hardcore powerhouse At The Drive-In (ATDI) are heading back to Australia for a run of East coast shows this September. In addition to the usual amp-leaping, leg-kicking, guitar-swinging antics and classic tracks, the guys will be showcasing songs from their first album in 17 years, in•ter a•li•a.

The world-renowned outfit – often credited as revolutionising the post-hardcore movement – called it quits way back in 2001, not long after releasing their landmark record, Relationship Of Command. While most members went on to other musical projects, ATDI’s music and wildly energetic, borderline unhinged live shows became the stuff of legend. Nearly two decades on, their reckless indifference towards life and limb in the interest of keeping sweaty masses entertained is still unmatched, with few bands able to live up to their onstage antics.

You know when people tell you about those bands you should see at least once before you die, even if you don’t like the music? ATDI are one of those bands. But get in quick, because if their 2016 Splendour sideshows are anything to by, these gigs will sell out in a heartbeat. Tickets go on sale this week but in the meantime, check out in•ter a•li•a’s latest single, “Hostage Stamps”, before the album drops on May 5.
