A. Avoid bright light sources shining directly into camera Some digital SLRs use a combination of a mechanical shutter and sensor switching or ‘gating’ to control exposures. Sensor switching is used for the faster speeds and the mechanical shutter for the slower ones, but obviously this shutter still has to open for all speeds. In bright conditions, this means the sensor’s surface receives more light than would normally be the case and the pixels get ‘overloaded’ which essentially causes the light to ‘spill’ or spread, creating a blooming effect. The only solution is to avoid very bright light sources shining directly into the camera. |
