According to AMX Australia's owner and founder, Kevin Chatfield, the change in his company’s name in January 2007 recognised the increasing alignment with the corporate direction and philosophies of its major supplier AMX (US), which he says helped him make AMX Australia a leader in the Australian control system industry. ‘AMX Australia has evolved into one of the most respected AV distributors in the world,’ said Rashid Skaf, president and CEO of AMX (US). ‘Much of this success stems from Kevin’s personal commitment to his customers, partners and employees,’ he told AVHUB. ‘AMX Australia’s passion to grow and support the AMX dealer channel, industry consultants and end users is truly impressive, and we look forward to working with them to raise the bar even higher in the future.’ Chatfield founded AV Technology (now AMX Australia) in 1987, from his own home in Melbourne. Although he initially focused on installing complete audio-visual systems, Chatfield was one of the first in Australia to realise that power control systems were essential in order to simplify complex systems for users, not only for home users, but also in commercial environments. This led to him establishing a relationship the US-based control system manufacturer AMX, a move that Chatfield says was one of the most significant in the history of the company. ‘[It caused] AV Technology to refine the scope of its business, focussing solely on product distribution, which allowed it to carefully build and nurture its dealer network,’ he said. Over the years, the company’s achievements have been recognised on both national and international levels, with many awards including ‘Global Partner of the Year’, ‘Distributor of the Year’, ‘World Partner Leadership Award’ and ‘Outstanding Performance’ award. Chatfield was also a State Finalist for the Telstra Small Business Award. For more information, contact AMX Australia
