Based in Noosa, in Queensland, Jamm Audio is a new company formed by Jamahl Wilson that specialises in building exclusive custom home audio speaker systems. ‘All our designs use full-range Audio Nirvana drivers designed by David Dicks, of Commonsense Audio, in Missouri’ says Wilson. ‘Driver diameter varies from 6.5 inches to 15-inches depending on your application, and our speaker cabinets can be finished in any colour that you can imagine. We use chrome and copper paints, metallic paints, snake and crocodile skins and more. We can finish speakers in corporate colours, or in the colours of your favourite football team.’
All cabinets are manufactured from 24-mm MDF and fitted with either Australian Eichmann speaker terminals or WBT binding posts. Internally, Jamm Audio uses Van den Hul speaker wire. ‘We also construct home theatre speaker systems that can include 21-inch subwoofers, if the client has the space and reinforced windows,’ Wilson told Australian Hi-Fi Magazine. ‘Our speakers are statement pieces as well as audio speakers, for individuals who do not want to settle for just black or black whilst ensuring that the musicality of the drivers is superb. The Audio Nirvana drivers have a wonderful soundstage and presence and Jamm Audio aims to provide the market for absolute value for money in terms of sound and finish.’
It isn’t only the cabinets that can be customised. Jamm Audio also offers a wide range of speaker grille cloth options, with such unusual textiles as Marrimeko, Chilewich, and Funkis. Wilson says Jamm can also put photos of any subject on the grille covers. ‘Jamm Audio aims to offer the market something completely different, yet still be affordable,’ he said.
Jamm Audio is currently extending its distribution to other states of Australia and is welcoming enquiries from hi-fi retailers.

In the Jamm Audio speakers grouped above, three of the four models were finished in Lamborghini Orange Pearl, Ferrari Yellow Pearl and Ducati Red, all using genuine PPG Paint codes. Jamm Audio has also used genuine Alcantara suede from Italy on the front of the speakers along with genuine Carbon Fibre inlaid in to the Suede. The white cabinets are finished in Lexicon White.
