Hi Fi & Video Marketing, which now has exclusive Australian distribution rights for world-renowned remote control manufacturer Universal Remote Control, has announced price drops in URC remotes.

According to Tony Ingrisano, of Hi Fi & Video Marketing, they were themselves surprised prices are lower than they were previously. ‘After we sent out our price list, dealers told me that the pricing appears to be better than with the previous distributor.’ One of URC’s most popular models, the MX-350, now sells for just $299. It’s an infra-red only remote control (many of URCs remotes are capable of multiple transmission methods) that can enable complete control of up to 10 different components. Each of the ten components can be programmed with up to eight pages of LCD screens, plus the 33 hard buttons. And unlike many remotes, where you’re stuck with whatever text is already on the LCD screen, the URC MX-350 remote allows you to edit the text on each LCD screen exactly as you prefer.

Universal Remote Control is without doubt a world leader in the remote control field,’ says Andrew Menzer of Hi Fi & Video Marketing. ‘Their multi award winning product designs—as well as a truly superior customer service system—make URC stand out among the remote control community. Typical of their innovation is the MX-980, which is a powerful wand-style custom control designed to advance the state-of-the-art in home theatre programming and integration. It has a vibrant full-colour display with an active matrix LCD that can display any graphic image you like, and can accommodate BMP, JPEG, and PNG files, along with GIF and animated GIF files. All can be assigned to any of eight adjacent activity buttons. It’s also a dual remote, able to operate via RF or infrared.
