All four new 7.1-channel receivers have HDMI 1.3a compatibility and the higher-priced AVR660 ($3,999) and AVR360 ($1,499) feature Dolby’s new ‘Dolby Volume’ technology.’ The Dolby Volume circuit analyses, measures and controls perceived volume levels, so that playback volume will always remain at approximately the same level, eliminating the need for you to turn down the volume during commercial breaks or to adjust the volume when switching from one source to another.
All four new models offer the full suite of Dolby surround decoders, including Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus, and Dolby Pro Logic IIx, as well as harman/kardon’s exclusive Logic 7 technology. The AVR360 has four HDMI inputs, one HDMI output and two assignable, wide-bandwidth (50MHz), HDTV-ready component video inputs, and compatibility with the latest version of the harman/kardon Bridge III iPod/iPhone dock. The flagship AVR660 (which is rated at 7×65-watts per channel) has six digital inputs (two optical and two coaxial on rear panel, and one optical and one coaxial on front panel) plus a convenient front-panel audio/video input for use with video games or portable players. The other two receivers are the AVR260 ($1,199) and AVR160 ($999).
