The new GenevaSound System Model S is claimed to bring exceptional sound, style and simplicity to the bedroom, kitchen, or office. ‘The GenevaSound S sounds better and does more than any single-function iPod dock on the market,’ says Philippe Luder, of Audio Dynamics, which distributes Geneva Labs in Australia. ‘It features Geneva’s new PowerDock connector, new TouchLight controls, and has an FM tuner as well as an inbuilt alarm clock.’
Geneva Lab’s new PowerDock solves an issue that plagues other iPod/iPhone docks, which is that their upward-facing connectors get dirty when exposed to the air, which can result in connection difficulties and electrical problems. On the Model S, whenever you remove your iPod or iPhone, the motorised PowerDock spins closed so that the 30-pin connector disappears into the cabinet where it’s protected from damage and dust until you want to re-connect your iPod. To do this, you simply touch the GenevaSound S and the motorised PowerDock will spin open.
The new TouchLight control system is also new. It’s a sophisticated backlit, touch-sensitive control panel that is invisible until you reach towards it. When you move your hand away, the backlight disappears. ‘TouchLight is particularly user-friendly in light-sensitive places like the bedroom,’ says Luder. ‘The intuitive controls also help and also offer extensive control of the iPod menu.’ Available in red, white or black piano lacquer, the GenevaSound S comes with a table stand that’s not just a design alternative, but also allows the user the choice of elevating the system, so it takes up less space on a nightstand, a counter or a desk. ‘GenevaSound revolutionised home audio last year in Australia as the first product to fuse an iPod dock into a high-end stereo system, using superior materials, high build quality, and patented technologies to enhance compressed music files to project three-dimensional sound from a single cabinet,’ says Luder. ‘At its debut, WIRED magazine hailed GenevaSound as ‘a Steinway,’ a ‘baby grand’ when competitors sounded like toy pianos. Legendary audiophile manufacturers have since followed GenevaSound’s approach—but none match its simplicity, sound and sophistication.’ Available now, the GenevaSound Model S sells for $599 (RRP)
