Panasonic made good on its promise at last year’s CES, delivering an end-to-end 3D-based solution.

Last year at CES Panasonic promised an end-to-end 3D-based solution, and this year Yoshi Yamada, CEO of Panasonic North America, proudly showed the company’s first twin lens 3D camera – the last link that now completes the end-to-end chain. So now Panasonic offers capture, editing, authoring, playback and display equipment that is all 3D-based and all in Full HD.

The company is also working on various partnerships to step-up development of 3D broadcast content of all genres to include sports, documentaries, music and entertainment. In fact, at the Panasonic stand, there’ll be a mini studio that will deliver the world’s first 3D broadcast to a set-top-box at a different location. The future is here.

Panasonic Jon LandauOf course to support this massive commitment Panasonic will be releasing a full range of 3D-capable plasma and LCD displays as well as Blu-ray players. The new displays will feature the new 3D engine tied with “Infinite Black” circuitry that expands the contrast ratio to five million to one. The new DMP-BD85 Blu-ray player will include HDMI 1.4 (crucial for 3D) and the fastest boot-up time in the biz – a claimed lightning fast half a second. Further support of the 3D commitment was shown by the presence of John Landau, Producer of the 3D epic Avatar. He basically explained that all his future large-budget films will be shot in 3D.

They have managed to secure as partner none other than Skype and once again, the message was delivered by Yamada san with the support of Skype’s CEO, Josh Silverman. Life-sized – or even larger than life – remote communication is now truly a reality.

Panasonic’s CES main exhibition stand promises to not only be one of the largest at CES but also will be a treasure trove of electronics wonderment.
