Seven goes shaggadelic?

MediaSpy and whatsonthetube.net have noted a registration with IP Australia for logos registered by Channel 7 under the title 'Channel Mate' and 'Mate'.

We assume the Seven Network is following Nine's bright and breezily named Channel Go! - and also that they're thinking of 'mate' as a noun rather than a verb.

Though the prone human form in the logo might suggest otherwise...

UPDATE - Now that Seven has settled on the more prosaic but probably sensible Seven-2 as its new channel name, we are left wondering what else the Channel Mate name might be used for. Interactive EPG? Dedicated Freeview remote control? Whatch this space...
