The new 128 GB unit allows for large volumes of data to be easily backed up when on location. The Echo SE devices automatically activate when plugged in to a netbook or notebook type portable computer and offer high-speed data transfer – up to 28 MB/second read and 10 MB/second write. Built-in, no-touch software automatically backs up files in use, with the optional 128-bit AES file encryption. Importantly, the 128 GB Echo SE is extremely compact and is roughly the size of a typical USB drive. Models with storage capacities of 32 GB and 64 GB are also available.
Lexar’s Echo SE drives are compatible with the Windows XP/Vista/7 and Mac OS X operating systems. The drives incorporate versatile, built-in Echo back-up software developed by Dmailer for Lexar. Notable features include targeted file back-up – which stores only specified files and reduces wasted space – and file versioning which backs up a history of files and allows the retrieval of previous versions.
